NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), JNU Unit, strongly condemns the “sedition model” sponsored by leftist ideology on the 10th anniversary of the shameful incident of February 9, 2016. The conspiracy to defame a prestigious institution like JNU began at the Sabarmati Dhaba, an agenda that some anti-national elements are still trying to keep alive.
The heinous slogans raised on campus on February 9, 2016, such as “Bharat tere tukde honge” (India, you will be broken into pieces) and “Afzal, we are ashamed,” were not merely the voices of a few students, but part of a deeper leftist conspiracy. The leftists have consistently used this temple of learning as a centre of separatism and anarchy. The true identity of JNU, known for research and academic excellence, has been transformed by these few individuals into the “Tukde-Tukde Gang” brand – a label against which ABVP’s struggle continues.
ABVP expresses its deep displeasure that even a decade later, the JNU administration has failed to ensure any concrete or lasting punitive action against the culprits. The administration’s sluggish approach and the fact that the inquiry committee files are gathering dust indicate that some within the institution are still silently protecting these anarchic elements. It is because of this cowardly silence and indecisive attitude that people still dare to write anti-national and hateful slogans on the campus walls. Recently, we have witnessed a “unholy alliance” flourishing between the administration and leftist organisations; while nationalist activists are heavily fined, elements involved in anti-national activities benefit from administrative leniency.
ABVP JNU President Mayank Panchal hits back at the left
“Any organisation or individual that harms the academic sanctity of JNU should not be given protection in the future. The administration should abandon its biased functioning and create a safe, positive environment for the common students – an environment where nationalism is paramount and there is no place for vandalism or anarchy.”
ABVP JNU Secretary Praveen Kumar Piyush said, “We will not allow any ‘anti-India agenda’ to succeed on the soil of JNU at any cost. We are fully committed to freeing JNU from the clutches of the leftists and bringing it back into the mainstream of ‘reconstruction’ and ‘nationalism’. Our struggle will continue until the face of the last traitor is exposed and the dignity of JNU is restored.”
