Human Rights organisations have raised slogans and are holding protests across the United States strongly criticising the atrocities committed on the Hindu community in Bangladesh. On January 31, Saturday, masses gathered in the city epicentres across the country and held rallies questioning the violence escalated in Bangladesh against the minority communities. Protests were held in more than 22 cities across the United States reflecting the scale and intensity of the demonstration and the severity of violence in Bangladesh that needs immediate global attention.
The city of Artesia in the state of California witnessed one of the largest turnouts of protestors. The participants called for immediate international attention to the crisis in Bangladesh and also demanded accountability from the Yunus administration as radical elements are spiking in the country under his regime. The protestors reiterated for peace and protection of minorities in Bangladesh and raised slogans such as “Om Shanti”. The human rights organisations asserted that the protests held across the United States was peaceful, politically correct, lawful as it reflected upon the massive human rights violations spiralling in Bangladesh.
“This is about ensuring the world pays attention to the suffering of vulnerable communities. We are asking for protection, accountability and peace”, said Geeta Sikand, media representative of the Global Coalition for the Protection of Hindus in Bangladesh. In a reflection of solidarity and brotherhood, the jewish community in the United States also joined the protests to seek justice for the Hindu minority community in Bangladesh. Demonstrations and rallies were held across the US including in the cities in the West, Mid West, North East and Southeastern parts of the country. People in the colder regions came out to protest even in the sub-zero temperature, with one solid message that the crisis in Bangladesh demands immediate global attention and action.
The protests reiterated that the international community should with utmost urgency look into the escalating violent scenario in Bangladesh and seek accountability from the Yunus regime as the innocent Hindus, Buddhist and Christian communities are being targeted with illicit radical motives. The protestors also urged to protect and uphold the religious freedom and liberty in Bangladesh. The human rights groups also spoke about the repeated episodes of communal violence and radical eruptions witnessed in Bangladesh since 1971, where the minority community have been targeted. However, under the Yunus regime, the atrocities have been spiked to a drastic scale and there is zero concrete action from the government.
“Raising our collective voice is the first step. We want peace, safety, and dignity for all communities”, said Dr. Surendra Sharma, a Hindu community leader from Southern California. The situation in Bangladesh is plungging into crisis everyday, with no sign of concrete action from the interim regime. The minority Hindu community is being deliberately targeted as radical Islamist groups have gained fuel under the Yunus rule. The administration has pushed the country into complete political instability, law & order crisis, economic issues etc. The spiking communal violence is further pushing Bangladesh into complete anarchy. The power conspirarers are silent on the minority rights to fulfill their political motives.
The global attention towards the escalating communal violence in Bangladesh reflects the seriousness of the issue. In the previous week, protests were held in the United Kingdom(UK) as well, calling the Labour Government to seek accountability of the Yunus regime in Bangladesh and protect the minority Hindu rights. However, as Bangladesh steps into general elections and a new power structure is set to arrive in Dhaka, the minority Hindu community rights and lives are still dwindling with unpredictability as they are mobbed, thrashed, houses torched and Hindu humans burnt alive on streets. The future is tense, but strong global protests and voices emerging in UK or in the United States can indeed be a maor push to protect the Hindu lives in Bangladesh
