Muslim League demands deputy CM post ahead of Kerala polls; BJP warns of religion-above-nation agenda

Ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has demanded the Deputy Chief Minister post if the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power, a move that BJP leader and former Union Minister V. Muraleedharan said has created anxiety among other communities

Converting Dār al-Ḥarb to Dār al-Islām is the objective of radical Muslims, and for that, achieving political power is inevitable. Whenever Muslims get an opportunity, they grab it to implement that agenda. Now, as Kerala is scheduled for State Assembly elections, Muslims in Kerala are demanding the Deputy Chief Minister position if the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power.

On February 2, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) demanded the Deputy Chief Ministership if the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power after the Assembly elections. Upon learning of this demand, V. Muraleedharan, BJP leader and former Union Minister, stated that it has created anxiety among other communities in the state.

“Congress Chief Minister will only be a figurehead”

The BJP leader stated that if the UDF comes to power, the Congress Chief Minister will only be a figurehead, while the Muslim League will be calling the shots. Muraleedharan said that the UDF’s true colours are coming out as the Assembly elections draw closer. It shows the deterioration of the Congress and the UDF.

The BJP leader was referring to the increasing demands of the IUML and the provocative speeches of its leaders.

Muraleedharan said that the Muslim League had made Congress stalwart (late) Oommen Chandy, the Chief Minister during the UDF government (2011–2016), a mere scarecrow. He added that if the Muslim League gains an upper hand in a UDF government, the plight that other minority and majority communities will have to face would be unimaginable.

He said that, on top of the Congress–Jamaat-e-Islami nexus, the Muslim League’s demand for more Assembly seats has now been followed by a demand for the Deputy Chief Ministership as well.

The former Union Minister asked the Congress to clarify its stand in this regard.

Muslim Youth League had reportedly demanded a separate Malabar state

It is to be remembered that recently Muslim League leader K. M. Shaji stated during a meeting that religion is most important for them. He said, “religion, religion and religion is most important for them.”  Earlier, he had said that the UDF has to come to power for the sake of Muslims’ interests.

In 2013, the Muslim Youth League had reportedly demanded a separate Malabar state.

Even though the Mahhamagha Kumbhmela is going on in Malappuram district, on the banks of the Nila river, also known as Bharathappuzha, not a single Congress leader has shown their face there, despite the party’s stand that it stands for all faiths, believers, and the security of Hindu temples.

None expects the presence of any CPM leader there, as they are self-styled atheists. Why does the Congress suffer cold feet? The reason is simple: they do not want to invite the wrath of the Muslim League, the Muslim community, and other Muslim outfits.
