‘Naxalism on the verge of elimination’: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Meanwhile Chhattisgarh Chief Minister on Friday said that Naxalism in Chhattisgarh is moving towards complete elimination. Addressing a press conference on the eve of completion of two year-tenure of the BJP government in the state, CM Sai laude the efforts of security forces.

“Today the entire country knows that in just two years, because of the double engine government (Union and the state) and the firm resolve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, our security forces have fought Maoists with exceptional courage. Under Home Minister Shah’s guidance Naxalism is moving towards complete elimination,” said the CM.

He noted that as many as 2386 Maoists have surrender in the state in the past two years with around 1900 others arrested during operations. He added that forces have also gunned down more than 500 Maoists in encounters in the same period.

The CM stressed that while a decisive battle is being fought against Maoism in the state, the focus of the government remains on the holistic development of Bastar. He mentioned that residents of the Maoist-affected areas are being provided with all the basic amenities under the Niyad Nellanar scheme.
