KOCHI: M. Sivadas (75), senior Sangh Swayamsevak of Kochi and former Vibhag Pracharak died in Kochi on December 2. After returning from Pracharakship, he took over as the general manager of Mathruka Pracharanalayam, the printers and publishers of Sangh-inspired Janmabhumi Malayalam daily. Later on, he worked as the secretary of Rashtra Dharma Parishad, the owners and managers of Pranth Karayala complex which houses Pranth Karyalaya, Saraswati Vidyaniketan Senior Higher Secondary School and ‘Bhaskareeyam” Convention Centre. He looked after the reception responsibilities of the Pranth Karyalaya for few years.
Sivadas ji joined Sangh in late 1960s and started his organisational work as a Muklhya Shikshak in Kochi. Later on he was assigned the responsibility of Mandal Karyavah. During the early days of fascist Emergency, He was arrested under DIR (Defence of India Rule) and jailed for nearly three months. After the culmination of the two-month long Sathyagraha, he was sent to Thiruvananthapuram, during late January 1976, as the Mahanagar Pracharak. After the Emergency he was made the Thiruvananthauram Zilla Pracharak. Later on, he worked as Vibhag Pracharak in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram. During those days, he was jailed for several months in connection with a fake criminal case. The Court acquitted Sivadas ji and other swayamsevaks. Sivadas ji remained unmarried and got involved in various Sangh-inspired activities.
Sivadas ji was a bold personality. Whenever Sangh was challenged, he faced it as a warrior. It is an appreciable quality in Kerala which is infamous for CPM’s murder politics.
He has been ailing since the last few years and was undergoing medical treatment.
