Security forces have intensified search operations in state’s Maoist-affected Bastar division. A joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police in a search operation launched on Wednesday had also recovered a Maoist dump from Palaguda area of Sukma.

The team during the operation launched in the forest area of Palaguda-Ittapara had recovered 5 muzzle-loading single shot rifle. The personnel had also recovered explosive materials from the spot.

It must be noted that Maoist-related violence has registered a sharp dip in recent few years. According to Ministry of Home Affairs only 3 districts remained severely hit by red terror out of the total 11 Maoist-affected districts in the country.

This reflects a sharp fall from hundred plus Maoist-affected district around a decade ago. The Union Government has announced a deadline to eliminate Maoist-insurgency from Bharat by March 2026.
