Assam: Retired school teacher Nazrul Islam arrested for controversial post on Delhi blast

The arrest of Nazrul Islam Barbhuyan has sparked a political row, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma vowing strict action against anyone endorsing terrorism or celebrating the tragedy, while Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi stirred controversy by calling the explosion an “election stunt” ahead of the final phase of the Bihar polls

Guwahati: Retired school teacher arrested in Assam for supporting Delhi blast. A former Principal of Baskandi higher secondary school in Hailakandi district Nazrul Islam Barbhuyan has been arrested by police posting hate messages supporting the Delhi blast. The arrested person in his comment in social media termed it as an election result.

Meanwhile, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that police have been scrutinising social media for such hate posts. He said, “  I have instructed the DGP to arrest such persons. Over 100 were arrested after the Pahalgam attack for supporting the heinous assault on innocent civilians. Now also we have seen some people supporting the terrorist attack in Delhi on November 10. They will not be spared.” CM Sarma further said, “ a section of people are either supporting the Delhi blast or celebrating it with happy emoji. This is not acceptable. These people support terrorism. We are verifying their background and will soon arrest them.”

He further said that terrorism will not be allowed to grow in Assam and any support for radical Islamic terrorism will be dealt with hard hand. A section of people have celebrated the death of innocent civilians in Delhi terror attack which means these people support terrorism directly or indirectly. These people will be arrested before the support for terrorism grows further in the state, CM Sarma said.

Meanwhile Congress MP from Nagaon Pradyut Bordoloi also termed the blast as an election stunt before the final round of voting in Bihar election. The Congress MP wrote in his X handle, “My discerning friends tell me that it was a very predictable course of action before the last round of Bihar election!” T

Controversial post by Congress MP

erming the Congress leader’s comment as an unfortunate one Assam minister Pijush Hazarika said, instead of condemning the act of terrorism and supporting the victims the MP is doing appeasement politics to satisfy a section of people. This is unfortunate and cheap politics of Congress party. It should be mentioned that MP Bordoloi deleted his X post after sharp criticism from netizens on his insensitive behaviour.
