New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 4 asked the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) grassroot workers in Bihar to get women electors to vote in large numbers in the Assembly elections, giving the mantra “Pehle matdaan, phir jalpaan.”

Interacting with women party workers under the ‘Mera Booth Sabse Mazboot’ campaign on the last day of campaigning for the first phase of assembly polls in the state, PM Modi directed them to increase the voter turnout in the upcoming elections.

Interacting with Shalini Singh, Khangaon Village Panchayat chief, PM Modi directed the Panna Pramukhs to ensure that the women in their Panna cast their votes first.

“We have started metros and Vande Bharat Express. When metro trains run, women benefit the most. When you (Shalini Singh) meet people, tell them about our manifesto and the mantra of ‘Pehle matdaan phir jalpaan’. The Panna Pramukh should ensure that the women in their Panna cast their votes first,” he said.

Begusarai Mahila Morcha chief, Dr Rekha Ram, informed PM Modi that the party workers are arranging vehicles for women to travel to the polling booths in order to increase the voter turnout.

“We are providing vehicles to women to travel and cast votes,” Dr Rekha Ram said. Expressing confidence in NDA’s victory, she added that women are benefiting from the Rs 10,000 under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana.

She said, “Women are proudly saying that the double-engine government has changed our lives. We proudly say that the government has provided free ration, 125-unit free electricity, a Rs 1,100 senior citizen pension and Rs 10,000 for business. I have met women who told me they are running their business, bought sewing machines with the Rs 10,000.”

PM Modi said that the people of Bihar have made up their mind to make the NDA victorious in the assembly polls and break the record of the last 20 years.

He slammed RJD and Congress and said, “The people of Jungle Raj will see their biggest defeat”.  He said the development of Bihar can only be done under the NDA.

“I have seen this election closely, and one thing I can say is that NDA is winning this election with a huge majority. I have no doubt about NDA’s victory. The people of Bihar have made up their mind that this time they are going to make the NDA victorious and break the record of the last 20 years. The people of ‘jungle raj’ will see their biggest defeat. The development of Bihar can only be done under the NDA,” he said.

He said the NDA government has worked to make the lives of women easy and empower them. “The expenses of electricity have come down. We are making plans to start the metro in several cities of Bihar,” he said.

Electioneering will come to an end for the first phase of the Bihar polls at 5 pm today. Polling for the first phase will be held on November 6.

The polling of votes for the second phase will take place on November 11, with the results to be announced on November 14. (With inputs from ANI)
