Imphal: Four Kuki terrorists killed in action by Indian army in Manipur. As per report, in the early hours on 4 November, during an intelligence-based operation carried out by a joint team of Army and Assam Rifles team in a hilly location in Churachandpur district. Terrorists resorted to unprovoked firing on the Army column at Khanpi village, approximately 80 Km West of Churachandpur, Manipur. In the ensuing firefight between Security Forces and armed cadres of UKNA, a non-SOO insurgent group 4 cadres of the terrorist group were neutralised. The UKNA is a Kuki terrorist group based in Myanmar and not in Suspension of Operation agreement with the government of India.
Additional forces were rushed to the spot. The operation is still in progress and search of the adjoining areas is in progress.
This operation follows recent atrocities by UKNA cadres including killing of a village chief, intimidation of locals and attempts to disrupt peace and stability in the region. The terrorist group is involved in many extortions and abductions including killing of innocent villagers.
Successful neutralisation of these terrorists highlights the Indian Army and Assam Rifles commitment to protecting innocent civilians, mitigating all threats and ensuring peace and security in Manipur.
Meanwhile, intelligence-based joint operations launched from October 25 to November 1, 2025 by Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under SpearCorps, in coordination with Manipur Police in the hill and valley districts of Manipur, namely Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Imphal West and Imphal East District have resulted in apprehension of 17 active cadres, recovery of 16 weapons, illegal contraband and other war-like stores.
Sources in Manipur police said that the arrested militants were involved in extortion and many other anti-social activities in both valley and hill districts. It should be mentioned that over 1000 militants have been arrested by security forces since February after imposing President’s rule in the state. The violence has come down drastically in the state after some tough measures by the law enforcing agencies. No major violence has been reported since February in Manipur. Violence broke out in Manipur in May 2023, over 260 people lost their lives in the ethnic clash.
