The Karnataka Congress government suffered a major setback on October 28, after the Dharwad Bench of the High Court issued an interim stay on its controversial order banning RSS Path Sanchalan, public rallies, and meetings in open spaces. BJP leaders across the state hailed the court’s decision as a victory for democracy and constitutional values while unleashing sharp criticism against what they termed the “authoritarian and anti-Hindu mindset” of the Congress regime.

The High Court granted interim relief in response to petitions challenging the Siddaramaiah-led government’s circular prohibiting route Path Sanchalans, public gatherings, and meetings under the pretext of maintaining law and order. The BJP has consistently accused the Congress of targeting nationalist and cultural organisations, especially the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), for political mileage.

Reacting strongly to the verdict, State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra said the court’s decision was a “resounding slap on the face of Congress’ arrogance and vendetta politics.”

“This is not just a legal setback but a moral defeat for a government that thrives on divisive politics. The Congress regime’s conspiracy and manipulation have failed. Law and order in the state has collapsed, and even the Home Minister has admitted it. Government employees are not getting their salaries on time, and the treasury is empty because of the Congress’ infighting and misgovernance,” Vijayendra said.

ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಕ ಸಂಘದ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಕ್ಕುವ ಏಕೈಕ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಆದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ತಡೆಯಾಜ್ಞೆ ನೀಡಿರುವ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಉಚ್ಛ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದ ಆದೇಶ ಸಂವಿಧಾನ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಘನತೆಗೆ ಸಂದ ಗೌರವವಾಗಿದೆ. ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ಜನರ ತ್ಯಾಗ, ಬಲಿದಾನದಿಂದ ಈ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ದೊರಕಿತು. ಆದರೆ…

He added that instead of addressing unemployment and inflation, the Congress leadership was “busy creating fake controversies” to divert public attention. “People have lost faith in this regime. The High Court has reminded the government that Karnataka is still governed by the Constitution, not by Siddaramaiah’s whims,” he thundered.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, described the verdict as a “judicial rebuke to the Congress’ political arrogance.”

“This is the Congress’ kapāla moksha (humiliation) for its thoughtless actions. They acted out of political hatred, ignoring the Constitution and the spirit of democracy. We had warned them that such an unconstitutional order would not stand in court. Now the judiciary has vindicated our stand. The Congress has lost both moral and constitutional legitimacy,” he said.

Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said the High Court’s order was a victory for constitutional values and equality before law.

“The Congress government targeted RSS and tried to suppress lawful, peaceful activities. The High Court has upheld the core principle that all are equal before the law. This is a warning bell for the state government. Instead of acting as per the Constitution, they are moving against its very spirit,” Joshi said, adding that “no government can curtail citizens’ fundamental rights in the name of political vendetta.”

Senior BJP leader and MLC C.T. Ravi said the interim order had protected citizens’ rights and exposed the Congress’s hypocrisy.

“This judgment protects our right to assembly and expression. The RSS is a nation-building organisation — not a lawbreaker. There is not a single instance where the Sangh has incited violence or disorder. It builds disciplined citizens, not mobs. The court’s decision has upheld the spirit of democracy,” Ravi stated.
