The official logo and anthem of the FIDE World Cup 2025 were unveiled on October 21 by Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, heralding the return of this prestigious chess tournament to India after 23 years. Set to be hosted in North Goa from October 31 to November 27, 2025, the event will bring together 206 players from 82 countries competing for a prize fund of USD 2 million (Rs 17.58 crore).

The anthem, titled “It’s Your Move,” features the iconic voice of music legend Daler Mehndi, blending the vibrant spirit of Goa with India’s strategic mastery in chess. The music video includes appearances by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and leading Indian grandmasters such as World Champion D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi, Koneru Humpy, and Vidit Gujarathi.

Chief Minister Sawant expressed his pride in Goa hosting the event, saying, “This milestone celebrates India’s rising prominence on the global chess stage. The logo and anthem embody Goa’s vibrant, creative culture while capturing the strategic elegance of chess.”

Among the participants is 12-year-old Argentinian prodigy Faustino Oro, known as the “Messi of Chess,” who will be the youngest competitor in this edition.

All India Chess Federation (AICF) President Nitin Narang called the event a “landmark moment” for Indian chess, highlighting the significance of bringing the World Cup back to India after more than two decades.
Meanwhile, Minister for Art and Culture Dr Ramesh Tawadkar praised the tournament for showcasing how Goa’s cultural heritage blends with the global spirit of competition.

The top three finishers of the World Cup will earn qualification spots for the 2026 Candidates Tournament, the crucial step towards the World Chess Championship.
