Patna: Union Minister Amit Shah on October 17 met Bihar Chief Minister [CM] Nitish Kumar at the latter’s residence in Patna.

The meeting was also attended by senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party [BJP] Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Bihar BJP election in-charge Vinod Tawde and Janata Dal [United] – JD[U] MP Sanjay Jha.

The leaders during the meeting discussed the strategy for the upcoming assembly polls.

“A detailed discussion was held over the the poll campaign strategy. The Home Minister is also starting poll campaign today, the CM also has a program scheduled for today in Jagdispur,” informed Rajyasabha MP Sanjay Jha.

Interacting with the media, the JDU lawmaker strongly refuted any discomfort over the seat-sharing within the alliance stating that there was never any issue within the allies.

“There was never any issue within the NDA, the buzz was only in media,” he said.

Later in the day, Shah started the poll campaign from Bihar’s Saran district. Addressing the rally, the Union Home Minister launched a scathing attack on the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal [RJD]. The Home Minister exuded confidence that the NDA is going to form the government with the biggest majority.

Earlier, the NDA allies announced their candidates for the Bihar assembly polls with both JDU and BJP contesting on 101 seats each. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has announced candidates for 29 seats. The other allies, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) are contesting elections on 6 seats each.

Meanwhile, the Congress party has also released its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. Other than Congress, Vikassheel Insaan Party [VIP] was reportedly allocated 15 seats in the alliance.

Polling for 243 assembly seats are scheduled to be held on November 6 and 11 with counting of votes to be done on November 14. The tenure for the current assembly is set to be over on November 22.
