Interpol is the International Criminal Police Organization, a global network of the police forces. It aids for worldwide cooperation and communication among the police forces in order to apprehend wanted criminals. It circulates nine varied-coloured notices across the globe depending on the nature of the case. Red Notices are served for tracking the wanted fugitives. Similarly, yellow notices are circulated for missing persons, black for unidentified bodies, green for warning and intelligence etc.
In India, CBI acts as the nodal agency for all the assignments related to Interpol and is popularly dubbed as Bharatpol. With the apprehension of Mankandathil Thekkethi, the success story of CBI in especially bringing back fugitives from across the globe continues. As per the CBI statement, the probe agency has brought back more than 130 criminals from across the globe in last couple of years, through the Interpol channel. Thus, CBI is operating as an epicenter in upholding the law, order and internal security of India.
In the previous month, CBI successfully brought back Munawar Khan from Kuwait through the Interpol channel who was wanted in the cheating and forgery case where the culprit had cheated the Bank of Baroda and had left to Kuwait.
