Ghar Wapsi in UP: Four families give up Christianity after 3 years, embrace Sanatan Dharma in Pratapgarh

Four Hindu families in Pratapgarh, UP, who had converted to Christianity three years ago under false promises of financial aid and healing, have embraced Sanatan Dharma through traditional Vedic rituals in a Ghar Wapsi Ceremony

In Takht Ka Purwa village, Hiraganj’s Ram Nagar ward, four Hindu families, lured into converting to Christianity three years ago by promises of financial aid and relief from illness, have returned to Sanatan Dharma through Vedic rituals in a Ghar Wapsi ceremony.

Lured by pastor and Lal Gopalanj with fake promises of money and healing, four Hindu families converted to Xtianity three years ago in Pratapgarh, UP.

The families Harilal, Kullu Saroj, Nanhe Lal, and Om Prakash faced severe financial hardship and persistent illness. Three years ago, they were approached by a pastor and followers from Lal Gopalanj, who promised relief and prosperity through conversion. Believing these assurances, the families embraced Christianity, with the wives—Phoolkali, Shakuntala Devi, Nirmala Devi, and Vittan Devi—leading the conversion.

However, the promises never materialized. Instead of aid or relief, the families were left isolated, facing social rebukes and continued struggles. “We realized that converting to Christianity did not bring any help or comfort. We felt deceived and abandoned,” said one family member.

Determined to return to Hinduism, the families sought assistance from local authorities. Village Ward Councilor Sariya Singh and her husband, Vikas Singh, stepped forward to facilitate the Ghar Wapsi. In a ceremony marked by chanting of Vedic mantras, the families underwent traditional Hindu rituals. They were provided with sacred items, including Ganga water, a scarf, a photo of the Devi Ma, and the Bhagavad Gita, to formally embrace Sanatan Dharma.

The Ghar Wapsi ceremony drew local attention and widespread celebration. Residents lauded the councilor and her husband for their initiative, which they said reinforced the values of faith, tradition, and community solidarity.

“This is not just a Ghar Wapsi; it is a reclaiming of identity, dignity, and trust,” said a local observer. The families, overjoyed by their Ghar Wapsi, swore on the Gita and the Ganga, reaffirming their commitment to Hinduism and the values of Sanatan Dharma.
