Mumbai’s Sakinaka area has once again come under the spotlight after a disturbing case of what locals are calling a ‘Love Jihad’-style grooming and abduction of a minor Hindu girl. A 19-year-old Muslim youth identified as Jakir allegedly lured a 14-year-old Hindu girl and took her away by train, sparking panic among her family and outrage within the community.

According to police sources, the girl’s family filed a missing person complaint after she disappeared from her locality. Preliminary investigations revealed that Jakir had been in contact with the minor for some time and had manipulated her into eloping. The duo reportedly boarded a train and were traced by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Sakinaka Police at Nagpur Railway Station, over 800 kilometres from Mumbai.

After being intercepted by the authorities, both were brought back to Mumbai where the police formally arrested Jakir and charged him under the stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Speaking to local media, sources confirmed that the girl’s brother and family members were present at the Sakinaka Police Station on October 6 morning, visibly distressed but relieved that she was rescued before any further harm occurred. Police officials stated that further interrogation is underway to determine whether the accused acted alone or was part of a larger network involved in targeting young Hindu girls through deception and emotional manipulation.
