Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on October 5 inaugurated the newly constructed pavilion and ground of Rajgir cricket stadium. The stadium, built with a cost of over Rs 1100 crore features modern facilities such as dressing room, gym, VIP lounge, media gallery and etc.
The development marks a significant moment in state’s cricketing history, paving way for return of international cricket in Bihar after decades. The CM on the occasion also distributed appointment letters to 87 talented players.
Sharing the details, CM Nitish Kumar on X informed that the newly constructed stadium has been built keeping the international standards in mind and features every required facility.
“The stadium has been built while keeping the international standards in mind, where basic facilities for players and spectators, along with a media gallery and every type of requirement have been taken into consideration. The stadium has been built on approx. 18 acres and has seating arrangements for 40,000 spectators,” said CM Kumar.
The CM exuded confidence that the stadium will write a new chapter in state’s cricket history and benefit the state’s players.
“With the construction of this stadium, Bihar’s cricket talent will get the opportunity to play at a bigger level. It will also pave way for the return of international cricket in Bihar after decades. The stadium will successfully host international matches. I am confident that Rajgir cricket stadium will write a new chapter in Bihar cricket’s history,” he added.

CM Kumar in August last year had inaugurated the State Sports Academy and Bihar Sports University in Rajgir, marking a significant milestone in the state’s comprehensive effort towards building world-class sporting infrastructure.
The sports university and academy which features world class athletic tracks, a hockey turf, swimming pool, a football stadium and other sports facilities was built with a cost of Rs 750 crores, providing facilities for 28 indoor and outdoor games.
The academy since its inauguration has hosted prestigious sporting tournaments such as the the 8th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in November last year and 12th edition of the Men’s Asia Cup in August-September this year.
