The accused is from Dhubri district and has been living in Guwahati for the last few years. A case has been registered against the accused person and police are investigating the matter.

Hindu activist Biswajit Nath reacting to the incident said that this is not a simple crime against Hindu minor girl by an Miya-Muslim accused. It is a pattern. These suspected Bangladeshi people came to Guwahati and targeted Hindu girls and women. The government should immediately start issuing driving licences to rickshaw pullers in the city so that they can be identified immediately.
