Bihar: Senior doctor Nurul Kalam of district hospital apprehended for molesting intern female in Muzaffarpur

A senior doctor of a district hospital has been accused by a female intern doctor of molestation and threatening her after the latter lodged a protest against his advances. The intern then informed the police following which the doctor has been apprehended and a departmental inquiry against him has been initiated

In a shocking incident reported from Muzaffarpur of Bihar, a doctor from the district hospital was arrested for teasing and molesting an intern female doctor on emergency duty on Sunday, October 01.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning when both the accused and the victim intern were present in the hospital where the doctor misbehaved with the intern, following which she informed the police on 112 and got the accused arrested.

According to the reports, the accused doctor, Nurul Kalam, first grabbed the hand of the victim intern and then suddenly clicked a picture of it. It has been reported that when the intern doctor objected to his advances, Kalaam also threatened her and asked what will you do? Following this, the intern doctor informed the police at around 10.30 in the morning.

Upon receiving information a police team then reached the Poshan Purnavas Kendra and arrested the accused doctor. The female intern doctor then also lodged a written complaint against the accused in the Town police station.

Interacting with the media Dr N K Chaudhary, deputy superintendent of district hospital said that doctor Nurul Kalam started a recording to which the intern doctor objected and asked him to stop, however Nurul then grabbed the victims hand. The intern doctor then lodged a strong protest to which Nurul replied " what will you do?", following which the intern informed the police.

Meanwhile, Vinay Kumar Singh, SHO, Town police station informed that a complaint has been filed by a student who is a intern in the hospital, on the basis of which a FIR has been registered by the police under section 354 (b), 506 of the Indian penal code (IPC), the accused has been brought up to the police station.

Later on, the accused doctor was released after signing a bond paper following the victim withdrawing her complaint while a departmental inquiry against the accused doctor has also been initiated by the hospital administration, claimed a few media reports. It’s been learnt that the accused doctor is a habitual offender and the victim has alleged that he also had molested her in the past as well.
