GST reforms to Swadeshi: PM Modi’s 75th birthday marks era of economic growth and Atmanirbharta

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 75 on September 17, India gears up for transformative economic reforms, including GST rationalisation, that promise relief for the common man. Alongside, the PM’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Swadeshi continues to redefine India’s growth trajectory

The countdown to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17 has coincided with one of the most significant economic reforms in recent years, GST rationalisation. The new regime, set to take effect ahead of Diwali, is expected to bring down the prices of several essential goods, food items, automobiles, farm equipment, and daily-use products.

The reform fulfils the promise Modi made during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort. According to sources, the Prime Minister personally pushed for the revision and even told Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after GST Council approval: “Good…kaam ho gaya, the work is done.”

The move has earned India praise from international rating agencies. Fitch, S&P, and Moody’s have all projected GDP growth exceeding 6.5 percent, while the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has given an even more optimistic estimate of 7.5 percent.

These predictions reflect confidence in India’s economic resilience, even amid global uncertainties.

While GST reforms dominate headlines, the broader theme of PM Modi’s governance remains tied to self-reliance and Swadeshi values. Stressing that India must reduce its import dependence, the Prime Minister has focused on strengthening MSMEs, indigenous industries, and local brands.

Citing examples like luxury brand Prada’s imitation of Kolhapuri chappals, Modi has often pointed out that Indian products inspire the world but seldom gives India due recognition. The government’s “Vocal for Local” push aims to change that.

Another milestone under Modi’s leadership is the success of Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Not only has UPI transformed India’s digital payment landscape, but it has also emerged as a global model, with several countries adopting or exploring the system.

Rising exports, resilience against external pressures, and the ability to stand up to global economic challenges underline Modi’s ambition of positioning India as a self-reliant global powerhouse.

As PM Modi celebrates his birthday, his government’s reform agenda, from GST rationalisation to Atmanirbhar Bharat, signals long-term planning for India’s growth. With robust domestic initiatives and growing international recognition, Modi’s supporters believe the nation is headed towards “many more golden days to come.”
