A purported video from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Junagadh, Gujarat on September 12, has gone viral, showing party supporters playing a Pakistani song during his welcome. The clip, widely shared on social media, was posted by BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, who condemned the act and launched a fierce attack on the Congress.

Calling it “shameful”, Bhandari said, “When our soldiers guard the borders against Pakistan, Congress supporters sing Pakistani tunes for their leader. For Rahul Gandhi, loyalty to India comes last.”

The video has since fuelled a heated exchange between the two rival political parties, with BJP accusing Congress of disrespecting the sacrifices of Indian soldiers.

The controversy unfolded during Rahul Gandhi’s address to Congress workers in Junagadh, where he once again accused the BJP of “vote theft.”

“The main issue in the country is that of Vote Chori. The election mandates in Haryana and Maharashtra were stolen. People everywhere are saying Vote Chor,” Gandhi said.

He urged Congress supporters to resist what he described as “poll fraud” by the ruling BJP, asserting that “vote thieves can be compelled to vacate the throne with people’s support.”

While the BJP has seized on the viral video to accuse the Congress of “insulting India,” Congress leaders have so far refrained from directly commenting on the authenticity of the clip.
