Within Fortnight, PM Modi Holds Second Call with French President Macron

The Prime Minister also thanked Macron for accepting India’s invitation to the AI Impact Summit, scheduled for February 2026, and said he looked forward to welcoming the French President to India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron over the phone on Saturday, with the two leaders reviewing recent progress in bilateral cooperation and discussing global issues.

According to an official press release, the conversation covered developments in sectors including the economy, defence, science, technology, and space. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India–France Strategic Partnership under the Horizon 2047 Roadmap, the Indo-Pacific Roadmap and the Defence Industrial Roadmap.

The talks also touched on the conflict in Ukraine. Modi reiterated India’s support for a peaceful resolution and stressed the need for the early restoration of peace and stability, the release said.

The Prime Minister also thanked Macron for accepting India’s invitation to the AI Impact Summit, scheduled for February 2026, and said he looked forward to welcoming the French President to India. Officials added that both leaders agreed to remain in touch and continue working together to promote global peace and stability.

On September 4, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke jointly with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The conversation focused on regional and global issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on efforts to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier, on 21 August, Modi had received a call from French President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders are understood to have discussed ongoing initiatives for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in Ukraine as well as in the West Asia region, according to official sources.
