A Class 10 student of the Seventh-Day Adventist Higher Secondary School in Khokhra, Ahmedabad was stabbed to death by his junior on August 19, following a heated altercation. The victim succumbed to his injuries later that night while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Police investigations revealed that the attack stemmed from a confrontation in which the victim allegedly questioned the accused, leading the latter to retaliate violently with a knife.

The chilling chat: “Tell him I killed him”

As part of their probe, police accessed a chat between the accused and his friend, which revealed the boy’s chilling admission.

Key excerpts from the conversation include:

Friend: “Bhai, did you do something today?”
Accused: “Yes.”
Friend: “Did you stab someone?”
Accused: “Who told you?”
Friend: “He (the victim) has died.”
Accused: “Tell him (common friend) that I (Musef) killed him. He knows me, tell him right now.”

Chat between the students are the brutal murder

When confronted by his friend, who told him he could have just beaten the boy instead of killing him, the accused replied chillingly: “Whatever happened has happened now.”

The chat ended with the friend advising him to delete the messages and go underground.

The Murder

On Tuesday (August 19) afternoon, as the school bell rang, signalling the end of the day, a class 10 student, Nayan, packed his bags and set out for home. He had just stepped out of the building when a junior from class 8 and a few other boys surrounded him. A verbal altercation soon turned physical; a class 8 boy took out a knife, stabbed his senior and fled the scene.

In a CCTV footage, Nayan can be seen walking into the school with his hand on his stomach, covering the wound. The student was taken to a private hospital in Maninagar, where he died of his injuries.

In the meantime, the accused ran towards the backside of the school building. However, he was spotted by the security guard, who then informed the school administration and the police.

Protests at the School

By Wednesday (August 20) morning, the incident had spiralled into public outrage. Hundreds of people, including the victim’s family, parents of other students, members of the Sindhi community, and Hindu organisations, stormed the school premises demanding accountability.

Protesters damaged school buses, cars, and two-wheelers parked inside the campus.

The mob clashed with police before being pushed out of the premises, after which they staged a sit-in on the road, blocking traffic and raising slogans.

Administration under fire

The victim’s family and protestors accused the school administration of negligence, alleging that no immediate medical help was arranged after the stabbing. They claimed that the boy could have been saved had he been rushed to a hospital in time.

The accused student is in custody, and police are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence, and additional witness statements to establish the sequence of events. Meanwhile, pressure mounts on authorities to hold the school accountable for safety lapses and to prevent such incidents in the future.

The incident has sent shockwaves across Ahmedabad, raising urgent concerns about student safety, rising aggression among juveniles, and the responsibility of educational institutions.
