In a powerful reaffirmation of India’s zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, all three terrorists responsible for the brutal Pahalgam terror attack have been eliminated in a joint counter-terror operation, Operation Mahadev, conducted by the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police. Among those who responded with a sense of closure was Shabari Guha, wife of slain civilian Sameer Guha, who described the operation as a “relief” and a step toward justice.
“I would like to congratulate our armed forces, CRPF, and J&K Police, as they did a big operation and achieved success. Such a big wound cannot be erased, but at least there is some relief,” said Shabari Guha, whose husband was among the victims killed by terrorists in the Baisaran valley area of Pahalgam. Her voice, filled with emotion and resolve, echoed the sentiments of countless Indians who have been impacted by the scourge of terrorism.
Shabari recalled the grim days after the terror attack and expressed gratitude for the government’s firm response. “After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the government took many steps. Operation Sindoor was launched and we were hopeful that the terrorists involved in the Pahalgam terrorist attack would be killed,” she said, adding, “The armed forces should eliminate terrorists wherever they are in the country… We trust the government and the armed forces.”
Her comments come after Union Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed in the Lok Sabha that three terrorists involved in the Pahalgam attack were gunned down in Operation Mahadev. “In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack,” Shah announced during the second debate on Operation Sindoor in Parliament.
Providing further details, Shah revealed the identities of the terrorists eliminated: “In Operation Mahadev, Suleman alias Faizal, Afghan, and Jibran, these three terrorists were killed. Suleman was an A-category commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Afghan was an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. And Jibran was also an A-grade terrorist… All three terrorists who killed our citizens in the Baisaran valley have been eliminated.”
Shah condemned the attack in the harshest terms, saying, “Innocent civilians were killed in front of their families for asking about their religion. I condemn this barbaric act. I express my sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones.”
The success of Operation Mahadev, following the earlier Operation Sindoor which targeted terror launchpads across the border, underscores the Narendra Modi government’s uncompromising resolve against terrorism. Prime Minister Modi also lauded Shah’s statement and the efforts of the security forces.
“In this remarkable speech in the Lok Sabha, Home Minister Amit Shah Ji gives important details about Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, which have played a vital role in eliminating cowardly terrorists. His address also focuses on our Government’s efforts towards keeping our nation secure,” PM Modi wrote on X.
Reinforcing the impact of India’s changing security doctrine, Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Kavinder Gupta said, “Stone pelting has ended. Lakhs of people who would join the funerals of terrorists have come to an end. It is a result of the central government’s zero-tolerance policy that the Pahalgam accused have been shot dead.”
