Residents of Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) were shaken early on the morning of July 10 as strong earthquake tremors rattled buildings and stirred panic across the region. The tremors were felt at approximately 9:04 am and lasted for nearly a minute, causing many people to rush out of homes and offices in alarm.

According to initial reports from the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake measured 4.1 on the Richter scale, with its epicentre located in Rohtak, Haryana, around 60 kilometres from the national capital. The tremors were moderate in intensity but widely felt due to the shallow depth and proximity to densely populated areas.
Eyewitnesses from various parts of Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad reported shaking furniture and vibrating windows, with some office buildings initiating emergency evacuation protocols as a precautionary measure. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of damage to property or loss of life.
Authorities in Haryana and Delhi are monitoring the situation and have urged residents to remain calm but alert. “There is no cause for panic, but people should follow standard earthquake safety protocols and avoid spreading rumors,” a spokesperson from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said.
As of now, no aftershocks have been reported, but officials are advising citizens to remain vigilant. More details are expected as seismic activity is monitored throughout the day.
