Patna: More than 40 people have been arrested by police after clashes broke out between the two community in Darbhanga’s Pohaddi village under Benipur sub-division, police said in a statement issued on July 1.

The incident occurred on late evening Sunday under the jurisdiction of Baheda police station limits, leading to injuries to around half a dozen people from both sides.

As per the details, an initial scuffle broke out between the children soon got escalated with elders from both the groups, joining the fray. The initial scuffle occurred reportedly over placing Muharram flags which led to a confrontation between the two groups, resulting in stone pelting and clashes.

Upon receiving information, a police team led by senior official swiftly rushed to the spot and took control of the situation. Adequate deployment of police personnel was also made at the spot to prevent any further escalation of tension between the two groups.
