Bareilly police apprehends Muslim youth Musabbir in minor girl molestation case

A Muslim youth was arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police in Bareilly’s Izzatnagar after an encounter during his attempted escape following an incident of molestation. The accused, Musabbir, allegedly passed lewd comments and groped a minor girl in Gadde Wali Gali, Gandhipuram Phase 2, before fleeing the scene.

On June 21, a minor girl was on her way to a coaching centre in Gandhipuram, Bareilly (Izzatnagar police station jurisdiction), when a biker molested her around 3:30 PM. The incident was caught on a nearby CCTV camera. Police identified the perpetrator as Musabbir, son of Mohammad Rais, from Math Kamal Nayanpur. Following a complaint from the victim’s family, an FIR was filed at the police station. The charges include sections 78/352/351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and 7/8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

When police attempted to arrest Musabbir, he opened fire and tried to escape. In retaliatory action, officers shot him in the right leg. He was later taken to the district hospital for treatment. Legal proceedings have been initiated as per due process.

Police also recovered weapons from the accused, and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team was called to the scene. Charges under the Arms Act have been added, and further investigation is ongoing.
