Wokeism in Punjab: Hijacking minds, hijacking identity

Separatism in Punjab on the basis of language, region and religion is the result of wokeism and cultural Marxism. Many local organisations paid attention to all these issues, which is a good thing, but instead of spreading knowledge on these issues, violent resistance starts

Sapta Sindhu, the centre of Vedic tradition and spirituality, which was famous for its knowledge of weapons and scriptures, was an example of the highest order justice system, because Vedic knowledge was the main source of guiding society. Over time, while enduring foreign atrocities and natural influences, the Sapta Sindhu region (the land of seven rivers) became Punjab (the land of five rivers), where the Guru-disciple tradition and Gurbani knowledge established social harmony and laid the foundation of a rule like the Khalsa Raj in the future.

The main reason for India, especially Punjab, being so influential and prosperous was its belief in its original culture and knowledge from Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. But the same Punjab, today, seems to be cut off from its roots. The influence of foreign, especially European, ideology is more visible on Punjab than the influence of Gurbani and Punjabiat. The ideology of any culture should be learned and understood, but one should not destroy one’s original knowledge by coming under the influence of other ideologies. Today’s young generation is doing something similar, due to which the image of Punjab is getting tarnished in the entire world. Similarly, the ideological system called wokeism is becoming the basis of European thoughts, due to which the culture of many major countries has been destroyed and now this cultural storm is trying to uproot the cultural roots of the tree called Punjab.

Wokeism: An ideological flaw
In Western countries, mainly America, there was a custom of buying black people and making them slaves, which reflected the exploitation of blacks. Against this custom of exploitation at the social level, the then black society gave the slogan ‘Stay Awake’ and this movement also became the basis of the American Civil War. Later, after the failure of Marxism, many new ideas were brought forward by leftist thinkers, in which ‘Wokeism and Woke Thought’ proved to be the most influential.

Wokeism is a branch of Cultural Marxism, whose main work is to increase social evils and establish social discrimination. The divisive policies are named Critical Theory and Cynical Thought, which create separation by targeting social issues like region, religion, color, wealth and language. One dimension of cultural Marxism ideology for social distortion is to target the family. In Indian society, family is the temple of ideology and education which builds the character of a person. As a result of which many warriors like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Prithviraj Chauhan, Guru Gobind Singh Ji made their lives successful and also became revered by their character. India’s multifaceted ideology is the flow of ideas like Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the whole world is a family) and brotherhood, which have been stringing the society in a pearl necklace. On the other hand, Western Ideology shows selfish thinking with ‘self-centered mentality’. Due to this ideology, the foundation of joint family, Trust, is now ending, the results of which can be seen in the form of nuclear family. Nuclear family ends future relationships and only increases ‘self-love’. Due to which selfishness shows its true colors and damages the family by breaking the dignity of all relationships.

The second dimension of ideological disease like wokeism is to divert people from national service. India is one of the few countries in the world where the land and the country are addressed and respected as mother, and this thought has been creating a feeling of patriotism in all Indians, as a result of which many foreign powers were opposed by Indians. The aim of wokeism is to prove topics like patriotism and service to the country as mere talkativeness and to free the future generation from service to the country by making them selfish. This ideology was established during the British rule but it is getting its rightful place through social media these days.

Impact of Wokeism on Punjab
The leftist thinkers found the way to weaken the nation in weakening the society and the way to weaken the society was in weakening the family situation. For which social media started being used as a Brahmastra. The selfish young generation, leaving behind the family values, started presenting various types of Obscene and Indecent topics on social media for a few rupees. No one cares about such behavior prevalent in European society because there is no system like family there. But in the name of globalisation, Indians accepted European ideas, but its effect was more on the family system here. Obscene acts by the youth are an attack on family values and honour at the social level, which started taking the form of social boycott.

The decision to leave Punjab (Diaspora) due to any reason has become a fashion nowadays. After completing schooling, the youth are ready to go abroad directly, due to which the number of youth in Punjab is decreasing drastically. In almost every village and city of Punjab society, members of many families live abroad, whose lifestyle also influences the young generation, and the rest of the gap is covered by Punjabi musicians, who entice the young generation to go abroad by showing nudity, debauchery, expensive watches, cars and all kinds of luxury in their songs. Not only the youth of Punjab are going abroad, but they are also taking with them the huge amount of money earned from the soil of Punjab, which is the main reason for the weakening of Punjab’s economy.

The growing Separatism in Punjab on the basis of language, region and religion is also the result of wokeism and cultural Marxism. Many local organisations paid attention to all these issues, which is a good thing, but instead of spreading knowledge on these issues, violent resistance starts. Due to which the justice system of Punjab is suffering a lot. Attacking a person with sharp weapons in broad daylight is an attack on the teachings of Gurbani. Separatist mentality has become so strong in Punjab that the police administration is often seen ignoring the matters of minorities, the main example of which is the violence on Ramnavami and Durga Ashtami.

Conclusion
No one than Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji can guide the Punjab in this ideological war. By adopting the teachings of Gurubani, the lifestyle should be changed accordingly, so that the people of Punjab feel connected with the cultural roots. These teachings of Guru-disciple tradition can secure the harmony of Punjab from the clutches of foreign’s anti-national mentality.
