Flight AI180 landed on schedule at 12:45 am, but a snag in the left engine delayed its onward journey. At around 5:20 am, an onboard announcement instructed all passengers to disembark.

The aircraft’s captain informed passengers that the decision to disembark was made in the interest of flight safety.

Earlier on June 16, Air India flight AI2493 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad was cancelled after delays caused by operational issues, according to sources cited by news agency ANI. The Airbus A321-211 (VT-PPL) assigned to the flight faced unspecified delays, during which the crew exceeded their Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL)—the maximum allowable working hours to ensure flight safety—resulting in the cancellation.

Delhi-Ranchi Air India Express flight returns mid-air over technical glitch

An Air India Express flight from Delhi to Ranchi was forced to turn back shortly after takeoff on Monday due to a suspected technical issue.

The Boeing 737 Max 8, originally scheduled to arrive at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport at 6:20 pm, returned to Delhi due to a suspected technical issue. After thorough inspection and receiving the necessary clearances, the aircraft resumed normal operations, according to an Air India Express spokesperson.

“One of our flights returned to Delhi after takeoff due to a suspected technical issue. Following inspections and required clearances, it resumed scheduled operations. We regret the inconvenience caused,” the spokesperson added.

Earlier the same day, an Air India flight to Delhi had to turn back mid-air from Hong Kong after the pilot reported a suspected technical problem. Flight AI315, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, had departed from Hong Kong and was scheduled to land in Delhi at 12:20 pm, as per FlightRadar24. All passengers deboarded safely, and the aircraft is now undergoing a safety inspection.
