Chhattisgarh: Police arrests Bangladeshi couple residing illegally in Raipur Tikarapara area

The accused were found to be in possession of fabricated documents including fake marksheets and passport

Raipur: Police on June 13 detained a Bangladeshi couple residing illegally in Bharat. Acting upon a tip-off, a police team raided and nabbed Md. Dilawar (49) along with his wife Praveen Begam (44) from Tikarapara area of Raipur.

The duo was picked up after the police received a tip-off related to a few Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in Dharamnagar of Tikarapara.

The police have also seized fabricated documents including fake mark sheets and passport from the possession of the accused. The couple was residing illegally in the capital city for the last 15 years and was currently staying at a rented accommodation in Dharamnagar area

According to details, the accused Dilawar was employed as a street hawker in Raipur. He also said to have visited Bangladesh on a number of occasions during his stay time in Bharat.

The police later booked both Dilawar and his wife under various sections of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Foreigners Act, Indian Passport Act 1967 and Passport Act 1920. The accused are currently being interrogated by the police.

On May 18 police arrested a Bangladeshi couple from Supela of Bhilai. The couple identified as Md. Rasel Sheikh and Sahida Khatoon alias Jyoti was residing illegally after expiration of their visas, said officials.

According to the police, the couple arrived in Bharat in 2009 and was working at Navi Mumbai and Thane before moving to Supela in the year 2017.

The officials added that the accused prepared fraudulent documents such as the Voter Cards, Aadhar Cards, Pan Cards and Bank Passbooks and misused them. They were also found to be in constant touch with their family members from Bangladesh over internet and WhatsApp call.

Earlier on May 15, the STF had also arrested an illegal woman Bangladeshi infiltrator from Bhilai. The accused identified as Panna Biwi was a resident of Khulna district of Bangladesh who was residing in Bhilai of Durg district with a fake identity for the past two years. The police team also seized a fake Bharatiya Aadhar Card from the possession of the accused women.

Notably, police in Chhattisgarh is carrying out a special drive to identify and locate all illegal immigrants residing in the state.  Earlier in a stern warning to the immigrants residing illegally in the state, Deputy CM Vijay Sharma said that structured action will be taken against them.

Replying to a query about the ongoing action being taken against the illegal immigrants residing in Chhattisgarh, Sharma said “More of that will be done. We will take further action against illegal migrants. Even stronger action will be taken. Structured action will be taken. I would like to tell those from outside who are living in Chhattisgarh that they should come before the Police and give a clarification.
