An Air India flight bound for London with 242 passengers on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on June 12. The crash occurred in the densely populated Meghani Nagar area, just meters away from the airport premises.
According to initial confirmation from the State Police Control Room, the aircraft lost altitude rapidly and plunged into a residential zone, sending shockwaves across the city. Eyewitnesses reported a thunderous noise followed by a massive fireball and thick plumes of black smoke rising into the sky—visible as far as Vastrapur.

Emergency response teams, including the fire department, disaster relief forces, and local police, rushed to the crash site to carry out rescue and relief operations.
Adani Group, which manages the Ahmedabad airport, confirmed reports of smoke from within the airport perimeter and is working with authorities to manage the situation. Airport operations have been suspended until further notice.
Air India has yet to release an official statement, and it remains unclear what technical or human factors may have led to the crash.
