With the success of Operation Sindoor, the world came to know about Bharat’s strong intentions. The message went to the whole world that this is a new India. Our economy has now reached the fourth position after the United States, China and Germany. After Operation Sindoor, the world accepted the strength of the Bharatiya defence system. The dream of a developed India @2047 and India’s steps towards it are proving that India is no longer afraid or scared of anyone.
Superiority of Swadeshi Products
With the aim of making Swadeshi and adopting Swadeshi products, Bharat is moving towards the category of developed countries. With the slogan of “local for vocal”, Bharat seeks to develop itself by becoming self-reliant and moving ahead with the thought of considering the world as one family.
What Makes BrahMos Productive
With the aim of making Bharat self-reliant, a self-made defence system for security equipment is to be created by DRDO. In this series, the BrahMos supersonic missile proved to be a milestone, and Tejas has shown the world that Bharat’s speed is not going to stop in the race of developed countries. BrahMos Aerospace has production facilities in Hyderabad, Nagpur and Bilani. A joint venture company established by Bharat’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s rocket design bureau NPO Mashinostroyenia (NPOM), BrahMos is a successful Indo-Russian joint venture. The joint venture is capable of manufacturing hypersonic missiles. It was launched in 1998, and its first successful test was conducted in 2001. The Indian Army received this missile for the first time in 2007. BrahMos missile can be launched on land, sea and air. BrahMos missile is one of the fastest cruise missiles in the world, which is even better than America’s Tom Hawk missile.
BrahMos is a two-stage missile with a solid propellant booster engine as its first stage, which brings it to supersonic speed and then gets separated. The liquid ramjet, or the second stage, then takes the missile closer to 3 Mach speed in the cruise phase. Stealth technology and a guidance system with advanced embedded software provide the missile with special features. The missile has a flight range of up to 290 km with supersonic speed all through the flight, leading to shorter flight time, consequently ensuring lower dispersion of targets, quicker engagement time and non-interception by any known weapon system in the world. It operates on the ‘Fire and Forget Principle’, adopting a variety of flights on its way to the target. Its destructive power is enhanced due to large kinetic energy on impact. Its cruising altitude could be up to 15 km, and terminal altitude is as low as 10 meters. It carries a conventional warhead weighing 200 to 300 kg.
Due to the manoeuvrable technology, BrahMos missile changes its path when the enemy changes its path. The speciality of BrahMos is that it can be fired at the enemy from submarines, ships and fighter planes. Indian Air Force is the first air force in the world whose fleet includes supersonic cruise missiles.
The demand for Indian missiles has started gaining momentum. The most important among these are missile defence systems like BrahMos and Akash. In the last few years, Bharat has emerged as a strong military power in the world. Today, India is taking a step towards self-reliance and exporting modern aircraft and equipment manufactured in India to other countries. Our exports in the defence sector have reached Rs 23,622 crore. It is expected to reach five billion in the next five years. Along with BrahMos missiles, Akash and Tejas are also making a splash all over the world. Weapon manufacturing has not only increased Bharat’s economy but has also strengthened it socially, such as our hold in South Asia has increased. Along with the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia also want to buy modern equipment from India. India is exporting equipment manufactured by it to Italy, Maldives, Russia, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Poland, Egypt, Israel, Chile, Spain and more than 85 other countries. India’s defence exports had increased to Rs 21,083 crore in 2023-24 itself. Rs 6.21 lakh crore has been allocated for the defence budget in the year 2024-25, which is 4.3 per cent more than last year. Defence sector public sector undertakings have registered an increase of 42.85 per cent in exports in the financial year 2024-25.
India is strengthening its economy along with its defence capability. Our India is developing and becoming stronger and together we will make it stronger.
