In response to the brutal killing of innocent civilians, targeted for their religion, by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam, rising tensions have prompted India to take retaliatory actions. Amid this backdrop, the Odisha Police have arrested S K Manawar Ali from Bhadrak for allegedly posting pro-Pakistan content on social media. This marks the first such arrest in Odisha, although similar cases have occurred in other regions, including Assam. Ali was apprehended by police in Kendrapara.
Sources indicate that S K Manawar Ali, a young man from the Muslim locality in Nuagaon under the Bayangadihi Gram Panchayat in Bhadrak district, had shared anti-national content on Facebook. His posts expressed support for Pakistan and included abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The post incited anger among local residents, who argued that Pakistan’s promotion of terrorism in India warranted a strong response, heightening border tensions. They contended that supporting Pakistan while residing in India and making derogatory comments about the Indian Prime Minister is tantamount to sedition.
Local residents firmly asserted that individuals like Ali should face severe consequences. They also called for strict action against anyone who aligns with anti-national sentiments.
Several BJP leaders from Kothar Panchayat in Bhadrak raised concerns about Ali’s post, prompting a significant number of local residents and BJP party workers to visit the Dhusuri police station to file a formal complaint. They met with Officer-in-Charge Ajay Sudarshan Bage, demanding stringent action against the individual responsible for the anti-national post. Taking the situation seriously, the Dhusuri police arrested Manawar Ali in Kendrapara.
Tanmay Dash, the State Organising Secretary of the Hindu Jagran Manch in Odisha, praised the police’s actions. He emphasised that the country is facing a situation akin to war and stressed the importance of identifying and addressing anti-national elements.
Dash further urged that sleeper cells associated with Pakistan and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, undermining the country from within, also need to be identified and deported.
