Islamist Jan Mohammad who stabbed to death a Hindu Boy

Guwahati: In a shocking incident that unfolded in broad daylight in the heart of Guwahati city, Islamist Jan Mohammad Ali alias Raju Ali stabbed 26-year-old Mriganka Barman to death, reportedly over a love affair. The incident, which occurred in the basement of a busy commercial complex, has sparked public outrage and concern over rising street crimes.

In a swift and efficient operation, the Garchuk Police cracked the sensational murder case within just three hours of the incident being reported. The crime, which took place on Monday afternoon in the basement of the Silver Arcade Marketing Complex at Garchuk, claimed the life of 26-year-old Mriganka Barman, a resident of Japarkuchi, Nalbari.

According to police sources, the incident was reported at around 4:00 PM. A team from Garchuk Police Station, led by the Officer-in-Charge, promptly reached the spot and found the victim lying critically injured. He was immediately shifted to Excelcare Hospital, but despite all efforts by the medical team, Barman succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Within three hours of the crime being reported, the police successfully identified and apprehended the accused, Jan Mohammad Ali alias Raju Ali, aged 31, a resident of Dampur under Hajo Police Station. His arrest was made possible through technical surveillance, field investigation, and CCTV analysis.

The murder weapons — a knife used in the stabbing and a wooden stick believed to have been used in the assault — were recovered from the scene and have been seized as evidence.

Preliminary findings suggest that the motive behind the attack was a romantic dispute, possibly involving a love triangle between the victim, the accused, and a woman. Police sources indicate that Barman had been staying at Hotel High City Inn in Garchuk with the woman in question prior to the incident.

A team of forensic and fingerprint experts examined the crime scene to collect crucial evidence. Police have initiated legal proceedings and further investigations are underway to establish the complete sequence of events and the roles of all individuals involved.

The Guwahati Police Commissionerate has commended the swift and decisive action taken by the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) team from Garchuk PS, highlighting their dedication to maintaining law and order and delivering justice in record time.

The case has drawn public attention not only for its tragic nature but also for the remarkable speed of the investigation and arrest, serving as a strong message against violent crimes and a reminder of the capabilities of Guwahati’s police forces.
