Tamil Nadu: Operation Sindoor exposes 0.5-front pseudo-seculars and ‘aman ki asha’ brigade

During the interview, he said, “This is just a drama… India has no intention of waging a full-scale war. According to me, this is theatrics and optics. This is a sensation that we have created here, and there is a need to respond

While the entire nation, major political parties, and global powers support the Indian government’s ‘Operation Sindoor’ to destroy terror modules and their bases, in Tamil Nadu, there are voices that appear to support Pakistan by shedding tears like the proverbial crocodile.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) has suspended its Assistant Professor S. Lora for her alleged anti-India comments posted on social media. The action was taken after students and faculty members reported her controversial WhatsApp status, which criticised the Indian Army and questioned the nation’s military operations.

According to screenshots that went viral on social media, Lora had written: “India killed a CHILD in Pakistan and wounded two people in the early Wednesday strikes. Killing innocent lives for your own bloodlust and for your election stunts is not BRAVERY and it’s not JUSTICE. It’s a cowardice act!”

Acting swiftly on a slew of complaints, the university issued a suspension order dated May 8, 2025, signed by Registrar Dr S. Ponnusamy, stating: “Since Ms Lora S, Assistant Professor, Directorate of Career Centre, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur campus, has been involved in unethical activities, she is placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending enquiry.”

Lora has been with SRM for over 11 years and is part of the Career Development Centre, where she taught Communication English, Verbal Aptitude, and Personality Development. It is understood that an internal enquiry will now be conducted to further assess the matter.

A pro-Dravidian, LTTE sympathiser, and Christian priest, Jegath Gaspar, in a recent interview with a YouTube channel ‘Tamil Niram’, commented on Operation Sindoor, echoing dangerous narratives aligned with Pakistani propaganda rather than standing with his own nation. During the interview, he said, “This is just a drama… India has no intention of waging a full-scale war. According to me, this is theatrics and optics. This is a sensation that we have created here, and there is a need to respond. I think it is being done with the need to make it a political one, but as I have been saying over and over again, if this will end terrorist acts from now on, then it is a real action. I repeat. Whatever action is taken, there is a goal—what are we going to achieve with this? Isn’t that the goal?”

Another Tamil tech YouTuber, Nanda Kumar—also known as “PC Doctor”—has stirred controversy. He recently uploaded a video portraying Pakistan as merely poor and uneducated, claiming we shouldn’t fight them but rather offer help. His video thumbnail featured provocative visuals suggesting that parts of Jammu and Kashmir belong to Pakistan and China. He even boldly declares “I support Pakistan” and includes taglines stating, “Don’t hate Pakistan. No war, only love.” Such content isn’t just tone-deaf—it crosses into blatantly anti-national territory.

Oscar award-winner and music composer Allah Rakha Rahman (AR Rahman), on  May 7, 2025, posted a cryptic message on X using just three emojis: “🕊️❤️🇮🇳.” While likely intended to signal peace, the post was viewed as tone-deaf and morally inconsistent, especially given his complete silence on the massacre itself. He did not comment when terrorists attacked Hindus in Pahalgam. Following social media outrage, he deleted the post.

AR Rahman didn't utter a word on Pahalgam terror attack by his Qaum. Today he is calling for peace.

Earlier in 2022, Rahman stirred controversy by depicting the Tamil Goddess in a ghost-like illustration and played on regional sentiments by engaging in ‘Tamil identity’ genre politics. Formerly known as A.S. Dilip Kumar, he has consistently reinforced his Muslim identity and exhibited religious fundamentalism by undermining the faith of his own colleagues.

It has become a passion in Tamil Nadu to extend support to China, Palestine, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and other nations when criticised for their wrongdoings—raising and flashing human rights issues in their defence.

VCK founder Thol Thirumavalavan, in a statement on May 7, spoke of the need for lasting political solutions and strategic measures to prevent military action from escalating into war and to safeguard national peace. He also urged the Central Government to ensure that the strike on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan should not be misinterpreted as hostility towards Indian citizens who follow Islam.

NTK chief Seeman, in a post on Instagram, said: “In response to the brutal terrorist attack carried out in #Pahalgam, the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi is punishing innocent Pakistani civilians by blocking the Indus River. This act is completely unjust. We must not forget that just as the terrorists who attacked innocent civilians in Pahalgam belonged to the Islamic faith, the local Kashmiris who risked their lives to protect the tourists from those terrorists were also Muslims. It was the terrorists who murdered the Indian tourists, not the poor and innocent people of Pakistan. Blaming a particular religion or targeting a specific community in response to the cowardly and cruel attack of the terrorists can never be considered righteous!”

The Tamil Nadu BJP condemned on reporting by ‘The Hindu’, stating: “Shameful journalism by The Hindu. At a time when our forces are responding to terrorism with unmatched courage, this kind of reckless reporting—amplifying enemy propaganda without verification—is not journalism, it’s betrayal.”

The Hindu must issue an unconditional apology… pic.twitter.com/n0VS6VCybj

— BJP Tamilnadu (@BJP4TamilNadu) May 7, 2025

In another post, it said: “This isn’t an apology. This is a mere PR cover-up. Also—we thought you stood for freedom of speech, Mr @nramind? What would you call a newspaper that publishes fake news against our armed forces, but can’t handle real replies from the people?”

These are only a select few voices from Tamil Nadu in support of Pakistan and against India’s retaliatory measures against terrorists who cold-bloodedly killed Hindus.
