Pro-Pakistan handles on social media have launched a full-scale disinformation blitz amid India’s ongoing counter-terror offensive, #OperationSindoor. This calculated assault on digital integrity involves recycled videos, old aircraft crash photos, and completely fabricated advisories — all falsely linked to the current security situation in J&K.
India has launched Operation Sindoor, a coordinated tri-service strike involving the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and the Bharatiya Navy, targeting key military installations and terror launchpads inside Pakistan.
The operation, executed with precision and strategic planning, reportedly employed a range of advanced weaponry, including cruise missiles, standoff precision-guided munitions (PGMs), and loitering munitions (killer drones). Sources indicate that multiple high-value targets across Pakistan-occupied territories were successfully neutralized.
In a significant development, the IAF is confirmed to have shot down a Chinese-made Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet using an indigenous Akash surface-to-air missile system. The action marks a major milestone for India’s air defence capabilities and showcases the readiness of indigenous weapon platforms in real combat scenarios.
🔴 LIE 1: Pakistan Air Force Bombed Srinagar Airbase
On May 6, several pro-Pakistan Twitter and Telegram handles began sharing a video purporting to show the Pakistan Air Force launching an airstrike on the strategic Srinagar airbase. The video shows plumes of smoke, burning buildings, and chaotic movement of vehicles, attempting to falsely indicate a major Indian military setback.
But the truth was far removed from the narrative.
In a video shared by several pro-Pakistan handles, it is being falsely claimed that the Pakistan Airforce has targeted Srinagar airbase#PIBFactCheck
❌ The video shared is old and NOT from India.

The video is neither recent nor from India. It is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, recorded during sectarian clashes in early 2024. It has nothing to do with the Indian Armed Forces or the Srinagar airbase.
This blatant attempt to push an old, context-less video as proof of a “victory” is emblematic of Pakistan’s deep-rooted insecurity and propaganda obsession. It is not just a lie — it’s an attack on India’s sovereignty in the digital realm.
🔴 LIE 2: Fake Government Advisory Urging Stockpiling of Essentials
A digitally altered “government advisory” is doing the rounds on WhatsApp and Facebook. It claims that the Government of India has urged citizens to stock up on food, fuel, medicines, and prepare for emergencies — subtly implying that war or a national emergency is imminent.
An image of an advisory is being shared online, claiming that the Government has urged individuals to take precautionary measures and keep essential items ready at home.#PIBFactCheck
❌ This claim is #FAKE. The government has not issued any such advisory

The advisory is completely fake. No official agency — neither the Home Ministry nor the Defence Ministry — has issued any such statement. The intent behind the fake post is crystal clear: to spark public anxiety, long queues at fuel stations, and an artificial sense of crisis.
This is not just irresponsible; it’s a deliberate act of cyber sabotage aimed at triggering a civilian panic response. It shows how enemies are not only targeting military morale but also civilian stability.
LIE 3: Brigade Headquarters Destroyed by Pakistani Strike
In another outrageous claim, posts across various platforms alleged that the Pakistan Army destroyed an Indian Army Brigade Headquarters in retaliation during #OperationSindoor.

There is no truth whatsoever in this claim. The Indian Armed Forces have not suffered any such losses, and no official military communiqué corroborates such an event. The origin of this fake claim can be traced to anonymous Twitter accounts often linked to ISI-backed information warfare operations.
Such claims are not only false but amount to digital terrorism, designed to harm national morale and international reputation.
🔴 LIE 4: Old MiG-29 Crash Photo Recycled as Fresh IAF Loss
As part of the disinformation blitz, a photo of a crashed MiG-29 fighter jet is being widely shared, with claims that the Indian Air Force has suffered recent losses in Kashmir or Rajasthan due to Pakistani strikes.
An old image showing a crashed aircraft is being re-circulated by pro-Pakistan handles in various forms in the current context of #OperationSindoor#PIBFactcheck

The image is from Barmer, Rajasthan, and relates to a MiG-29 crash in September 2024. The crash was due to a technical failure, and the pilot ejected safely. It has no connection to current events and certainly not to any external aggression.
This is yet another instance of narrative hijacking, where real Indian incidents are twisted to suit fake Pakistani success stories. These propaganda campaigns are not isolated incidents. They are part of a larger, more insidious hybrid warfare strategy deployed by Pakistan’s military-intelligence establishment. When military options are limited and diplomatic fronts are collapsing, Pakistan turns to its most accessible weapon — disinformation.
By injecting fake news, recycled media, forged government notices, and manipulated casualty figures, the goal is to:
- Undermine civilian trust in the Indian state
- Sow fear and psychological fatigue
- Project an illusion of strength for its domestic audience
- Distract from its own deepening internal crises in Balochistan, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The PIB has reissued a stern advisory urging citizens to rely only on official government sources like @PIBFactCheck, @adgpi, and @DefenceMinIndia for verified updates. In an age of rapid information flows, unchecked forwards can cause more damage than bombs.
