Raipur: Amidst the mega counter-insurgency operation launched near Karreguta hills along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana inter-state borders, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on May 1 met the victims of Maoist insurgency at his residence.
The delegation of the victims affected directly by the one-sided violence unleashed by the Mao’s men requested the CM to continue with the major offensive launched against the Maoists.

They have submitted a memorandum seeking that the operation launched near the Karregutta hills along the Telangana-Chhattisgarh borders should continue, said the CM.
“A lot of institutions and people want to halt this operation. A lot of people have arrived today, they are innocent and victims of Naxalism, their lives have been ruined. The people or the institutions who are trying to stop this operation from here to Delhi and trying to make an environment in its favour never met with these people, they never bother to ask these victims about their sufferings but they are trying to create an environment in favour of those who ruined the lives of these innocent people, he added.”

The development occurred days after the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) MLA Kavita making an appeal to the Union Government to stop the ongoing operation against the Maoists and work to find a political solution to the issue. Earlier a group of people also met with the Telangana CM Revant Reddy, seeking a meeting of the peace committee to deal with the issue.
Acting on credible intel, separate units of security forces and the state police launched the largest ever anti-Maoist operation on April 21. The forces during the initial leg of the operation neutralised three Maoist cadres in an encounter that took place on April 24.
Preliminary report suggest that the operation which is still underway met with a major success on April 30 when the advancing team of the security forces took control of the Karregutta hills, a long held natural fortress of the reds since long.
