Once again, the Yogi Adityanath government has shown that in Uttar Pradesh, illegal encroachments and goondaism will not be tolerated. In a shocking case from the prestigious King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, a group of Islamist elements had been secretly building illegal mazars (shrines) inside the campus premises. When brave doctors opposed this brazen land grab, they were shamefully assaulted just yesterday. However, in less than 24 hours, the Yogi administration’s bulldozers roared onto the scene, flattening the illegal structures and sending a loud and clear message – no lawlessness will be tolerated in New Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, over the past few months, certain individuals had been secretly building mazars near open spaces within the KGMU premises, which is a government-run medical institution. The unauthorized construction was not only illegal but also raised serious concerns about security, given that hospitals are sensitive spaces that need to remain neutral and safe for people of all religions and backgrounds.

Doctors and staff who noticed the growing structures had initially raised concerns internally. However, when they insisted on halting the illegal activities, they faced threats and even physical assault by the perpetrators on Sunday. The audacity of constructing unauthorized religious structures inside a government-run medical institution sparked outrage across the state. What was even more disturbing was the open assault on doctors, the very people who dedicate their lives to serving society.

The incident quickly gained public attention after videos and photos went viral on social media, sparking outrage across Uttar Pradesh and beyond. Several civil society groups and political leaders condemned the attack on doctors and demanded strict action against the miscreants involved.

Without wasting time, district officials, backed by a strong police presence, stormed the KGMU premises this morning. Bulldozers rolled in, and in no time, the illegal mazars were razed to the ground. The rubble was cleared, and a strong security cordon was established around the area to prevent any further mischief. The debris was cleared, and KGMU security was tightened to prevent any further attempts at illegal occupation.

UP Officials have assured that legal action will follow against all those involved in the assault on doctors and the illegal occupation attempt. Under the bulldozer model of governance, inspired directly by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s policy of zero tolerance for crime and encroachment, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed unprecedented speed and fearlessness in restoring law and order in the state.
