Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has made a historic and substantial display in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Student Union elections, by securing a massive victory for the Joint Secretary position in the central panel. ABVP’s candidate Vaibhav Meena secured the mandate of the Student community of JNU by dauntly challenging the dominance and authoritarianism of Left.

Additionally, ABVP won 24 out of a total of 42 councillor seats from 16 schools and centers, by dismantling the years of leftist supremacy and by waving the saffron flag in the so called ‘Red Fortress’.
Furthermore this is not only a historic transition in JNU’s political landscape but it is also a major milestone for student movements centred on nationalist ideology.

While ABVP has secured victory for the Joint Secretary position, it also gave very fierce competition for the posts of President, Vice President, and General Secretary . ABVP candidates remained strong contenders until the final round and posed a serious challenge to the leftist alliance. This result is a clear testament of the growing acceptance for the nationalistic thinking among student community of JNU.

ABVP also secured two seats, creating a new political landscape at The School of International Studies which has been under the dominance of left.

During the election process, ABVP also secured several unopposed victories :

Surendra Bishnoi on the only seat of School of Biotechnology,

Praveen Piyush, Raja Babu, and Prachi Jaiswal on all three seats of the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies

ABVP JNU Unit President Rajeshwar Kant Dubey, stated , “This victory in JNU is not only proof of ABVP’s proactive hard work and students’ faith and commitment to nationalist thinking, but it is also a victory for all students who consider education as the foundation for nation-re building. This is a democratic revolution against the so called Ideological tyranny established by left for years in JNU. ABVP will function tirelessly with its commitment in the interests of the student community and noble mission of nation re-building.

Newly elected JNUSU Joint Secretary Vaibhav Meena stated, “I am not at all considering this victory as my personal achievement or gain but it’s a massive and fascinating victory of tribal consciousness and the nationalist ideology which has been suppressed by left in the varsity for years.

This success is an embodiment of students who want to advance in education by wholeheartedly upholding cultural identity and the spirit of nation re-building. I assure that I will consistently work for betterment of students and will be accountable and transparent to them and will adopt measures to protect student interests, promote academic excellence, and strengthen harmonious democratic values, dialogue, and inclusivity on the university campus. This victory is the first and formidable step towards building a JNU where every student receives an environment of equal opportunity, respect, and foster commitment to the nation.
