Kerala: Pahalgam terror attack victim Ramachandran’s wife echoes Sangh spirit, with ‘Ganageetham’ during final adieu

Even in her moment of deepest sorrow, Sheela, the wife of Ramachandran, expressed a solemn wish: that the patriotic Ganageetham, "Parama Pavithramathamee Mannil Bharathambaye Poojikkan," be sung during his final rites

A swayamsevak is trained to dedicate his life to the service of the nation—living each day with unwavering commitment to Bharat Mata. This spirit of selfless devotion is not just taught, but deeply lived, shaping both the individual and those around him.

This was exemplified in the life of Sri Ramachandran, who was killed by Pakistan-sponsored Islamic terrorists in the Pahalgam terror attack, thereby resulting in the family plunging into deep sorrow. Yet, even in the midst of such profound grief, the ideals he lived by continued to inspire strength and patriotism in those closest to him.
Even in her moment of deepest sorrow, Sheela, the wife of Ramachandran, expressed a solemn wish: that the patriotic Ganageetham, “Parama Pavithramathamee Mannil Bharathambaye Poojikkan,” be sung during his final rites. Her request was not merely ceremonial, but a heartfelt tribute to her husband’s lifelong commitment to the nation.
To console the bereaved family, A. Gopalakrishnan, Akhil Bharatiya Samrakshak of Seemajagaran Manch, visited their residence in Kerala to pay homage.

This poignant request by Smt Sheela reflects not only her spirit but also the deep-rooted sense of national devotion instilled by the Sangh. That same unwavering commitment, once lived by Ramachandran since his childhood, now lives on in her thoughts —even in the face of irreparable loss.

The society hails this gesture with Shatakoti Pranams to the noble soul of Smt Sheela Ramachandran, who chose to echo her husband’s patriotism with unwavering clarity.

Ramachandran, a  swayamsevak since 1977, had served as Mukhya Shikshak of the Edappally Shakha in Kochi Mahanagar Zilla. In 1991, he contested the district council elections as a BJP candidate. He was also the cousin of Dr N. C. Induchoodan, a senior Sangh karyakarta and retired Forest Conservator.

The terrorists of Pahalgam attack confronted Ramachandran in front of his wife and daughter. They asked for his name to determine his religion, then demanded that he recite verses from the Quran. When he replied that he could not—as he was a Hindu—they reportedly forced him to undress to confirm his identity before murdering him in cold blood.
