Authoritarian attitude will oust DMK in 2026: Annamalai hits out at MK Stalin over skipping PM Modi’s events

Chennai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K. Annamalai on April 6 hit out at Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for skipping Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official engagements in the state. At Rameswaram, PM Modi inaugurated the new Pamban Bridge and launched other initiatives worth over Rs 8,000 crore.

In a post on X, Annamalai claimed that instead of attending PM Modi’s event, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin cited a state government function as an excuse and went to Nilgiris for a holiday.

He further claimed that the people of Tamil Nadu would reject the DMK’s “publicity-driven” politics and “negligent” attitude.  “After a successful government visit to Sri Lanka, our esteemed Prime Minister of India, Mr. @narendramodi, arrived in Tamil Nadu and today inaugurated India’s first railway vertical lift bridge in Pamban, constructed at a cost of Rs545 crore. Furthermore, he laid the foundation stone for various rail and road projects worth Rs8,300 crore in Tamil Nadu, dedicated completed projects to the nation, and launched several development initiatives,” he said.

“Instead of participating in this highly significant event, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr. @mkstalin cited a state government function as an excuse and went to Nilgiris to enjoy a holiday,” Annamalai added. He further stated that the DMK continues to prioritize selfish politics over the development of the state, adding that the “authoritarian” attitude of the ruling party will surely lead to the ousting of the DMK in the 2026 assembly elections.

“The people of Tamil Nadu are watching everything. In 2026, they will reject the DMK’s publicity-driven politics and negligent attitude, choosing instead the progress of Tamil Nadu and capable leadership. Mr. @mkstalin, in Tamil Nadu, the time for change has already begun,” the BJP leader added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation various rail and road projects worth over Rs 8,300 crore in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu today.

Earlier, he inaugurated the new Pamban Rail Bridge, India’s first vertical lift sea bridge, flagged off a train and a ship from the road bridge, and witnessed the operation of the bridge. He also performed darshan and pooja at the Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram.

Addressing a public event on the occasion, PM Modi said that today marks the auspicious occasion of Shri Ram Navami.

He mentioned that earlier today, the divine rays of the sun adorned Ram Lalla with a grand tilak at the magnificent Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.  “Bhagwan Shri Ram’s life and the inspiration of good governance from his reign serve as a significant foundation for nation-building,” he said.

Emphasizing Tamil Nadu’s cultural significance, he said, “Tamil Nadu’s Sangam-era literature also mentions Lord Shri Ram,” and extended heartfelt greetings to all citizens on the occasion of Shri Ram Navami from the sacred land of Rameswaram. (With inputs from ANI)
