Raipur: Chhattisgarh government on March 12 accorded nod to a new surrender cum rehabilitation policy for Maoists. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held at Chief Minister residential office, said an official release issued by the government.
Taking a strong initiative to resolve the Maoist issue in the state, the state cabinet has approved the Chhattisgarh Naxal Surrender/Victim Relief and Rehabilitation Policy -2025 in place of Chhattisgarh Eradication Policy 2023, read the release.
The newly approved policy will provide financial assistance, education, security, rehabilitation along employment opportunities to the surrendered Maoists. Under the new policy the government aims to ensure that those shunning the path of violence can lead a life with dignity.

In another key decision taken during the meeting, the government has announced an EOW investigation into complaints of corruption during the implementation of Bharat Mala Project.
The cabinet has also approved the draft for Chhattisgarh State Industrial Security Force Bill-2025 along according nod to Chhattisgarh Private Universities (Establishment and Operation) (amendment) Bill-2025 and Chhattisgarh Co-operative Society (amendment) Bill-2025.
The government has announced to setup a State Water Information Centre (SWIC) to develop scientific schemes aimed at improving the water resources management. The cabinet in the meeting has approved to sign a MOU with the Ministry of Jal Shakti for the establishment of the said centre.
The proposed SWIC will collect, store and analyze the data related to rain, aquifer mapping, water level of rivers and dams, soil along collecting information related to water resource management.
The centre will provide authentic data for water resource management with the help of digital platform developed by the National Water Information Centre (NWIC) which in turn will help solidifying policy development, strategic decisions, modeling and development of analytical equipment.
The state cabinet further approved the acceptance of loan amount of Rs 522.22 crores through Union Government for the renovation work of 9 dams under the Water Resource Department of the state. The list includes Maniyari Tank, Ghongha Tank, Dudhawa Kinkari, Sondhur, Muruamsilli (part-2), Ravishankar Sagar Project (part-2), New Rudri Barrage and Pendravan tank.
To ensure the participation of youths in solidifying policy implementation and good governance in the state, the cabinet also announced to commence the “Mukhyamantri Sushashan Fellowship Scheme”.
The scheme will be run by the Good Governance and Convergence Department with the help of IIM Raipur and New Delhi based Transforming Rural India Foundation. The scheme will be for the youths of Chhattisgarh and the state government will bear the cost of the scheme along providing a monthly stipend to the selected candidates.
