Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat underscored the critical need for “Panch Parivartan” (Five Transformations) to drive holistic societal progress during a keynote address at a Karyakarta get-together in Guwahati on Sunday, 23rd February. Organised by the RSS Guwahati Mahanagar unit, the event drew thousands of volunteers (Karyakarta) to South Point School in Barshapara, where Dr. Bhagwat outlined a roadmap for social cohesion, environmental stewardship, and cultural revival.

In his hour-long speech, Dr. Bhagwat articulated the five pillars of transformation: social harmony, family values, environmental conservation, Swadeshi (indigenous) practices, and civic responsibility. Stressing unity amid diversity, he called for bridging divides across communities, castes, faiths, and linguistic groups. “A harmonious society is built on mutual respect. All Hindu temples, water bodies, and cremation grounds must be unified in spirit through mutual cooperation,” he asserted.

Strengthening Families, Protecting Nature:

Dr. Bhagwat linked societal well-being to robust family structures, urging citizens to “prioritize familial bonds and values as the foundation of a righteous society.” On environmental challenges, he emphasized collective accountability: “Water conservation, reducing plastic dependency, and tree plantation are not optional—they are duties to our future generations.”

The RSS chief also championed ‘Swadeshi principles’, urging Indians to embrace native languages, attire, cuisine, and sustainable living. “Our daily choices—from speaking our mother tongue to wearing handlooms—must reflect pride in our heritage,” he said, advocating reduced reliance on foreign goods and cultural imports.

Civic Duty Beyond Rulebooks:

While underscoring adherence to state laws, Dr. Bhagwat highlighted the importance of “traditional moral norms” unmentioned in legal frameworks. “Civic duty isn’t limited to traffic rules or taxes; it’s about upholding ethics that nurture societal health,” he remarked.  In his speech, Dr. Bhagwat pointed out that as far as our civic duties are concerned, we should follow all rules and regulations of the state, at the same time, it is the duty of every citizen to also adhere to traditional social moral norms for the betterment of society which are not mentioned in any civic rule book.

The event saw the presence of senior RSS leaders, including Dr. Bhupesh Sharma (Uttar Assam Prant Sanghchalak) and Guruprasad Medhi (Guwahati Mahanagar Sanghchalak), alongside thousands of volunteers. The gathering concluded with a collective pledge to propagate the Panch Parivartan vision across Assam.
