Ranchi: In a startling revelation, the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has cautioned the Superintendents of Police (SPs) and DIGs about a recent training camp organised in the state, suggest media reports.
According to preliminary information, a few terrorists belonging to banned terro group Jamat-Ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) had recently sneaked into the Bhartiya territory and reportedly trained a few individual before returning to Bangladesh. The trained individuals were said to be the member of JAHA-India.
Abdul Samman, a member of the JMB reportedly crossed the border on January 6 and subsequently reached Pakur district of Santhal Pargana (division) of Jharkhand via Dhuliyan of Murshidabad, where he trained over a dozen people of JAHA-India.
According to a letter issued by the ATS, a meeting between the members of terror entity JMB and Jaha-India was organised at Islami Dawat Kendra (centre) at Dubrajpur of Pakur district. The meeting was attended by Abdul Samman who later trained 15 individuals and returned to Bangladesh. Samman reportedly followed the same route to return.
The ATS in the letter has further urged the officials to remain cautious and inform field formation about the development so that any untoward incident could be prevented. The special unit has further shared the details of all the 15 individuals who underwent the training program at Pakur.
Located on the eastern side of Jharkhand border adjoining West Bengal, Santhal Pargana is alleged to be a hub of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Earlier the Jharkhand high court in its verdict had also asked the state government and the Union to identify and deport the illegal infiltrators from the state.
Illegal infiltration in Santhal was also one of the prime campaign issues for the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party whose leaders have been quite vocal about the issue for long, terming it a threat to the national security as well as cultural identity of the local tribal community.
The state government on the other hand has denied any infiltration in the state, accusing the BJP for promoting polarisation politics for electoral advantages. Now after the revelation by the ATS, it is being speculated that the region may also has presence of sleeper cells of terror groups operating from Bangladesh.
