Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) on Wednesday, February 12, launched a fresh attack on the opposition. The CM without naming anyone recalls the state of law and order before he took charge in 2005, stating people used to fear roaming around after dusk.

“Were the earlier ones used to do anything? When I took charge in 2005 people used to fear going outside in the evening. You tell me how much it happens now, boys and girls are now roaming till 10-11pm, said Kumar.

“Earlier, there was nothing like that. Those who were before did nothing. All that has been done has been done by us (NDA),” he added. Kumar was speaking at a function on the occasion of Ravidas Jayanti held on Wednesday at Bapu Sabhaghar in Patna.

Kumar remarks has come at a time when the state’s political galleries are already heating up, following Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) return to power in national capital after a gap of 27 years.

Seeking clarity over the party’s strategy in the upcoming state assembly election in winters this year, senior leader of the Congress party and MP Tariq Anwar on February 10 said “Congress need to clarify its political strategy. It should make it clear whether it would go alone in election or do coalition politics as half measures send conflicting signals.”

Anwar remarks arrived on the heels of BJP securing a victory in the state assembly election of Delhi where both Congress and Aam Aadmi Party contested the elections separately. Notably both AAP and Congress are part of the INDIA block alliance.

Downplaying the impact of the Delhi election results on Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Thursday, however asserted that the BJP stands no chance of forming a government in the state.

Speaking to the media, Yadav claimed that the people have now recognised the BJP. “There will be no impact. How can they form the government? Can the BJP form the government while we are here? The people have now recognised the BJP,” Lalu Yadav said.

Yadav remarks has arrived days after the Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha on Monday asserted that Bihar is benefitting from the work of the double-engine government and that the NDA will win in the state in the upcoming polls in a better way than Delhi.

State assembly election are scheduled to be held in Bihar in the later part of the year where the Congress-RJD led INDIA block will be up against CM Kumar led NDA alliance.

The NDA has already paced up its preparation with Bihar Chief Minister undertaking a Pragati Yatra across all the districts of the state. The CM during his yatra has announced hundreds of schemes linked with welfare and development.

Amidst the ongoing yatra, the state cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on February 4 also accorded nod to a record 136 proposals during a cabinet meet held in the capital city.

The cabinet during the meet discussed and accorded nod to as many as 82 schemes along approval for hosting the world cup championship for women’s kabaddi. The development marks the highest ever agenda approved by the Chief Minister Kumar since he assumed office.
