Mahakumbh Nagar: The Uttar Pradesh Police is taking strict action against individuals spreading rumours about the Mahakumbh on social media. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Director General of Police Prashant Kumar has identified and initiated action against such accounts.

During social media monitoring, seven accounts were found circulating misleading propaganda by linking an old video of bodies found on the riverbank in Ghazipur to an alleged stampede at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj.

These accounts are accused of tarnishing the image of the state government and the police, as well as spreading social unrest. A case has been registered at Kotwali Kumbh Mela police station in Prayagraj, and legal proceedings are underway.

A video from 2021, depicting bodies on the riverbank in Ghazipur, was falsely circulated on social media as an incident related to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. The Uttar Pradesh Police promptly exposed the misinformation and clarified that the video had no connection to Mahakumbh. The official Kumbh Mela Police account also issued a denial to counter the misleading claims.

Legal action has been initiated against the following seven social media accounts for spreading misinformation and attempting to disrupt law and order. The accounts from which these false messages have been spread are:
1. Yadavking000011 (@Yadavking000011) – Instagram

2. Komal Yadav (@komalyadav_lalubadi94) – Instagram

3. Amar Nath Yadav (amar_ydvkvp_5354_) – Meta Thread

4. Banwari Lal – Bairwa (@B_L__VERMA) – X (Twitter)

5. Kavita Kumari (@KavitaK22628) – X (Twitter)

6. Sonu Chaudhary (SonyChaudhary70) – X (Twitter)

7. Putul Kumar Kumar (@Puatulkumar9795) – YouTube

The administration has made it clear that any attempt to spread misleading information related to Mahakumbh will not be tolerated. Authorities will continue to identify and take strict legal action against those spreading falsehoods on social media. The police have urged the public to avoid believing in rumors and to report any suspicious posts.
