The Mahakumbh at Triveni Sangam continues to witness an unprecedented influx of devotees, with over 40 crore pilgrims having taken the holy dip in the sacred confluence of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna, and the invisible Maa Saraswati. The massive turnout reflects the deep-rooted faith of saints, Kalpvasis, householders, and devotees from across India and the world.

By 4pm on February 7, 78.78 lakh pilgrims bathed in the holy waters, pushing the total number beyond 40 crore. With 19 days still remaining in the grand spiritual event, the number of bathers is expected to surpass 50 crore.

Even after the completion of the three Amrit Snan—Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Basant Panchami—the enthusiasm among devotees remains high. Millions continue to arrive daily in Prayagraj to partake in the sacred ritual.

A breakdown of participation shows that Mauni Amavasya recorded the highest turnout, with 8 crore devotees taking a dip. On Makar Sankranti, 3.5 crore pilgrims bathed, while over 2 crore devotees immersed themselves in the waters on January 30 and February 1. Paush Purnima saw 1.7 crore participants, and Basant Panchami witnessed 2.57 crore bathers.

The Mahakumbh has drawn participation from prominent leaders, Bollywood celebrities, and sports personalities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath have taken the holy dip, along with several other political dignitaries, including:

  • Governor Anandi Ben Patel
  • Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal
  • Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini
  • Manipur CM N. Biren Singh
  • Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel
  • Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Shripad Naik

Leaders from the opposition, including SP National President Akhilesh Yadav, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, and Former MP Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua,’ have also participated.

Bollywood actors such as Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Bhagyashree, Milind Soman, and sports icons like Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal, cricketer Suresh Raina, and wrestler The Great Khali have been part of the Mahakumbh festivities. Choreographer Remo D’Souza, poet Kumar Vishwas, actress-turned-Mahamandaleshwar Mamta Kulkarni, and actress Isha Gupta have also taken the holy dip.

Other notable participants include Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, Assam Assembly Speaker Biswajit Daimary, and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad. Adding to the list of high-profile visitors, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on February 10 to participate in the sacred ritual at Triveni Sangam.
