The murti of Saraswati Mata at the government high school in Narlapur village, Nizampet Mandal, Medak district, was vandalised by unidentified miscreants, sparking outrage among the villagers.
Upon discovering the desecration, villagers rushed to the school to assess the damage and immediately informed the police. The murti’s hands were broken, and it was displaced from its original position and pushed aside, resulting in complete damage to the murti.
In protest against this act of vandalism, villagers, along with ABVP students and leaders, staged a demonstration, demanding swift action. They urged the authorities to arrest the culprits promptly and ensure strict punishment for those responsible.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP leaders condemned the act, calling it atrocious that miscreants destroyed the murti of Saraswati Mata, whom students’ worship as a deity of education in the school. For Hindus, Saraswati Mata is the embodiment of wisdom, learning, and knowledge. Her worship is considered an integral part of student life, symbolising the pursuit of education and enlightenment.
The villagers and ABVP leaders filed a complaint with the mandal education officer and appealed to the police to take action at the earliest.
ABVP leaders Prashanth, Chandu, Manohar, Kumar, former dy sarpanch Madhu, Venkatesam, and Pranay Kumar participated in the program.
The students revealed that this was not the first incident at the school; earlier, the classroom windows were broken, computers were stolen, and tablets were damaged. They lamented that despite repeated complaints to the authorities about such incidents, no action was taken.
Nizampet Asst Sub-Inspector Jaipal Reddy, along with the police personnel, visited the scene and assured the protesters that the culprits would be caught within a week. Following this assurance, the protest was called off.
