The decomposed and mutilated body of a 25-year-old Hindu youth, Deepak Kumar, who had been missing for nearly three weeks, was discovered on Wednesday, January 8. The shocking incident came to light when Deepak’s remains were found abandoned in the bushes near Sector 62, just a short distance from where his family resides.

According to police reports, the body was in a severely decomposed condition, with some fingers and toes missing, suggesting possible foul play. Disturbing media reports also claim that the body was beheaded, though this detail has yet to be officially confirmed.

Deepak Kumar was last seen on December 16, the day he went missing. His family had been searching for him tirelessly and had filed a missing person report the same day.

Faridabad Police officer Yashpal Singh confirmed that a missing person case had been registered on December 16 and that police teams were actively searching for Deepak. Upon discovering the body, it was sent to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for postmortem examination to determine the cause and circumstances of death.

Deepak’s brother, Dileep, has raised serious allegations in his formal complaint. He claimed that Deepak was a key witness in a case involving a minor girl, in which several individuals—identified as Fakruddin, Idris, Anwar, Azad, Sohail, and others—were named as accused. According to the family, these individuals had enmity with Deepak due to his role in the case and had threatened him in the past.

Copy of the complaint letter

A copy of Dileep’s complaint, shared widely on social media, has drawn significant attention to the case. Responding to public concern, the Faridabad Police issued a statement acknowledging the gravity of the situation and confirmed the formation of specialised teams to apprehend the suspects.

The brutal nature of the crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many questioning the safety of witnesses in sensitive cases. Several social media users and local activists have demanded action and justice for Deepak, urging authorities to investigate the possibility of a targeted attack.

The postmortem report is awaited, which is expected to provide crucial insights into the manner of Deepak’s death.
