Keralam failed to uphold Gurudev’s teachings, says Goa Governor Sreedharan Pilla

Despite the fact that about 70 books of Sreenarayana Gurudev have been published, not a single one can be found that does not make a reference to spirituality. This reflects the deep spiritual foundation upon which Gurudev built his teachings. How, then, can the Chief Minister reject this very essence of spirituality

Goa Governor P.S. Sreedharan Pillai stated in Kochi, on 3rd January, that the state did not embrace Sree Narayana Gurudev’s ideals and principles properly. The Governor was inaugurating the state conference of ABVP. Gurudev had declared that he subscribed to the philosophies of Adi Sankara. About 70 books of Sreenarayana Gurudev have been published. We cannot see a single book among them sans reference to spirituality. How come the CM rejected this spirituality, the Goa Governor wondered. Gurudev had consecrated 42 temples; all temples are following Sanatana Dharma and Thanthra Shasthra.

The Governor was obviously referring to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recent blasphemous speech against Sanatana Dharma. Pinarayi had said that Gurudev was neither the spokesman nor the proponent of Sanatana Dharma. Sanatana Dharma was nothing but Varnashrama Dharma. He alleged that there are attempts to install Gurudev within the four walls of Sanatana Dharma.

Sreedharan Pillai said that it is almost 50 years since the Emergency was declared. It did not come up a fine morning. He explained the inhuman torture and jail terms the proponents of democracy and non-violent anti-Emergency fighters suffered in those days. He asked if there was any Naxalist (Maoist) who fought against the Emergency. He is afraid such people would be projected in the future. He asserted that Indira Gandhi was the terminator, liquidator and killer of democracy.

ABVP National General Secretary Dr. Veerendra Singh Solanki delivered the keynote address. Dr. Solanki said Kerala has given birth to several courageous leaders. He said that few teachers and students joined hands to launch ABVP when there was the question of ‘what after independence’ before the countrymen. Thereafter, ABVP has been successful in fighting the challenges the country and society have faced. ABVP has been working round the clock for the prosperity of the nation and the welfare of the students.

State President Dr. Vaisakh Sadasivan chaired. State Secretary E.U. Easwar Prasad, State Committee Member Abhirami Pradeep, Reception Committee Chairman C. Damodaran, and General Secretary Adv. M.A. Vinod also spoke on the occasion.
