Recently, a video of far-right commentator Stew Peters and comedian Leonarda Jonie spewing hateful rhetoric against Indian immigrants has drawn widespread condemnation online. In the video, posted by Peters on X with the caption, “This is the culture we’re importing through ‘qualified H1-B visa’ recipients,” he launched into a vile tirade against Indian immigrants, using inflammatory language to demean their contributions and culture. Peters labelled Indians as “cockroaches and parasites,” accusing them of failing to assimilate into American society, while Jonie, laughing along, did little to counter these baseless accusations. Peters went on to mock Indian cultural practices, making grotesque and unfounded claims about hygiene and moral values, including a bizarre remark about Indians brushing their teeth with the same material they use to eat soup.

This rhetoric not only reveals the depth of ignorance and prejudice but also stands in stark contrast to the actual contributions of Indian immigrants to American society. Far from being a liability, Indian professionals, particularly in the tech sector, have emerged as a cornerstone of the U.S. economy.
